East Durham College is seeking a creative, results-driven Director of Marketing to shape the voice, visibility, and reach of one of the North East’s most ambitious further education institutions. This is your opportunity to take a lead role in driving student recruitment, employer engagement, and brand reputation across all platforms.

About the Role

As Director of Marketing, you will design and deliver innovative, insight-driven campaigns that promote the College to diverse audiences—from school leavers and adult learners to apprentices and employers. You will oversee all aspects of marketing, branding, digital strategy, PR, school liaison, events, and careers engagement, leading a skilled team across these functions.

You will also be a key figure in shaping the College’s strategic communications—working collaboratively with senior leaders, agencies, and partners to boost enrolment, enhance engagement, and ensure the College remains a first-choice destination for education and training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of annual multi-channel marketing campaigns to meet recruitment targets.
  • Manage and align the College brand across print, digital, social, and event platforms.
  • Oversee the creation of prospectuses, advertising, PR campaigns, and school liaison activity.
  • Manage the College’s website and social media to ensure strong digital performance and engagement.
  • Coordinate market research and data analysis to inform strategy and improve return on investment.
  • Lead and support the Marketing, Careers and Schools Engagement teams.
  • Represent the College at key internal and external events and partnerships.
  • Monitor, analyse, and report on the effectiveness and impact of all marketing activity.
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Student Experience to deliver a seamless application-to-enrolment journey.
